The Dawg’s come out with hot bats to take game one of the three game series against the Shougang Eagles to move the Dawgs to 21 and 12 on the season.
Hawkins sits down the first three batters she faces, getting strikeout number one of the night while the leave two runners on base to end the first. Both teams go quietly into the second with no runs scored. Things started to pick up for the Dawgs after a Meagan May Whitley scores a three run homer in the bottom of the second, Allexis Bennett gets hit number 41 on the season with a single to left field to score Kayla Winkfield from third, and Cooper is walked by Nancy Bowling. Brittany Cervantes comes up to bat and hits a base clearing double to made it 5-0 to the Dawgs, Taylor Edwards hits an RBI sac-fly to make it 6-0, Flippen with an RBI hit to make it 7-0.
Both teams go quietly into the third inning, Hawkins racking up strikeouts number three on the night, and both leaving runners on. Dawg’s bats come alive again in the bottom of the fourth with Ali Aguilar’s first professional home run making it 9-0 for the Dawgs. The Eagles try for a rally in the top of the 5th with a run scored from a defensive error and an RBI single from Sun Run to make it 9-2 and a hit from Zhang Jing to bring it a run and make it 9-3. Eagles sit down three Dawgs batters in the bottom of the fifth but not before a 2 run home run from Morgan Zerkle to make it 11-3 and another one from Katiyna Mauga to make it 13-3. Dawgs defenses make it a quiet sixth only allowing the Eagles one hit and a strike out from pitcher Rachel Fox; the Dawgs don’t go quietly though, MJ Knighten hitting her third home run to make it 14-3. Eagles almost go quietly against but an RBI single from Xi Kai Lin makes in 14-4 before the Dawgs can get the final out to record the win.
Dawgs bats come alive once again with another dominating win over the Eagles moving them to 22 and 21 on the season.
Miranda Kramer and Morgan Foley combine to strike out a total of 9 batters on the night. Taylor Edwards gets the scoring started the bottom of the first inning with a two RBI double to make it 2-0 for the Dawgs and steals home on a pass ball to help the Dawgs jump out to a 3-0 lead. Kasey Cooper singles to left field to score Winkfield and make it 4-0 Dawgs. Edwards’ bats stays hot with another 2 RBI double to make it 6-0 for the Dawgs.
Dawg’s stay hot with Mauga’s second home run of the night to make it 7-0 Dawgs, Cooper hits a two run double taking the lead to 9-0, and a home run from Brittany Cervantes to make it 11-0 in the bottom of the third. Kramer and the Dawgs' defense keep the Eagles quiet through four innings with two strike outs and a pop up to the pitcher. Flippen keeps things going for the Dawgs in the fourth with a single and another two run home run from Katiyana Mauga to make it 13-0. Both teams go quietly in the fifth inning with no runs scored before things pick up again for the Dawgs in the bottom of the sixith with a monster home run over the scoreboard for Mauga making it 15-0 Dawgs and an RBI double from Olivia Watkins to make it 15-0. The Eagles don’t go quietly though scoring a run in the seventh to end the Dawgs’ shutout hopes.
The Dawgs are back at it tomorrow with a double header against the Eagles and the Charge. First pitches are set for 5pm and 7:30 pm
