Dawgs Win Both Games in Walkoff Fashion

07/29/2017 3:13 PM -
Dawgs win two in walk off fashion to sweep the series against the Shougang Eagles with a 3-2 win and take game one of a two game series with the Charge. This is the Dawgs’ third and fourth straight wins to move them to 26 and 12 on the season.

Dawgs start the scoring early with a two run double by Brittany Cervantes. The Dawgs keep the Eagles quiet with the help of some spectacular defensive plays and the help of six strikeouts between pitchers Morgan Melloh and Cheridan Hawkins. The Eagles came back in the top of the fifth inning to tie the game at two runs a piece after a single by Jia Chen. The Dawgs don’t go down without a fight though, rookie Ali Aguilar comes up big with her second professional home run to win it for the Dawgs.

Both teams put their ace pitchers in circle tonight for tonight’s match up against the Texas Charge to make it a hard fought win for the Dawgs. Monica Abbott pitched a complete game with 12 strikeouts to keep the Charge scoreless through seven innings and with the help of big defensive plays. The Charge didn’t make it easy for the Dawgs either, starting pitcher Dallas Escobedo striking out 11 of the batter she saw tonight while the defense also help keep runs off the board for the Dawgs. Third baseman Kasey Cooper comes up big with a walk off single to bring in Olivia Watkins to score the game winning run.

The Dawgs will be back for the final game of the regular season against the Texas Charge tomorrow at 7:30.
